Results of special election delayed due to number of ballots

Results in the Kenai Peninsula Borough mail-in special election regarding cocurricular activities funding were not available by the Clarion's press time.

According to the borough clerk's office, the results were expected Thursday afternoon. However, due to an unusually large voter turnout, processing of the ballots took longer than expected.

Though the Clarion does not publish a Saturday edition, a story on the results will be available on the Web site at as soon as results are in Friday.

The ballots asked voters: "Do you approve the exercise of powers necessary for the Kenai Peninsula Bor-ough to directly fund cocurricular activities for the school district in addition to operating funds currently authorized by law?"
