Safari Club to meet today

Alaska's Kenai Peninsula Chapter of Safari Club International will meet today at Don Jose's Restaurant in Soldotna at 6 p.m. The first hour will be devoted to organizing the upcoming May 5 fund-raiser, with a regular meeting to follow at 7. SCI works to promote hunting and our outdoor heritage.

Fish and Game committee meeting slated today

The Cooper Landing Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. today in the Cooper Landing ambulance hall to write, edit and vote on Cook Inlet fisheries proposals to be submitted to the Board of Fisheries and to comment and vote on HB 165- Kenai River Special management Area additions.

Moving families out of poverty focus of group

The Families in Self-Help (FISH) program will have a community brown bag luncheon meeting from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Soldotna United Methodist Church, 158 S. Binkley St.

FISH is a new daily community program to assist families in transition from poverty to self-sufficiency. The focus of the program will be families who have little to no work history and have received more than 29 months of temporary assistance. Daily programs will include such topics as mentorship, work experience, family lunch, parenting-family, and a community garden.

Chorus need members

Soldotna community chorus is looking for members. The chorus meets on Tuesdays in the Soldotna Middle School music room. The children's chorus meets from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; adults meet from 8 to 9 p.m. No experience is necessary, and beginners are welcome. For more information, call 262-6768.

KCHS choir reunion planned in June

Registrations are now being accepted for the first Kenai Central High School choir reunion planned for June 2 for anyone who has sung under the direction of Renee Henderson.
