Michael James Henry

Kenai resident, Michael James Henry, 61, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Central Peninsula Hospital with his loving wife by his side.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2011, at The Kenai Elks Lodge, 205 Barnacle Way, in Kenai. A gathering will follow the services at the Elks.

Mr. Henry was born April 16, 1949, to James Nathan and Virginia Leola (Houser) Henry, in Cheyenne, Wyo. He moved to Alaska in 2004 where he lived in Kenai. He worked for the .406 Sportsman's Lodge in Kenai as general manager from 2004 -- 2011. Mr. Henry was a member of the Kenai Elks Lodge #2425 in Kenai. He received the Lodge Elk of the year award in 2008 and was also the State Elk of the year in 2008.

The family wrote, "Mike was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and best friend. During his short time in Alaska, Mike touched the lives of many members of the community. He will be sorely missed."

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Henry, of Kenai; daughter, Melinda Murray and her husband, George, of Fountain Valley, Calif.; son, Michael J. Henry, II and his wife, Theresa, of Henderson, Nev.; granddaughters, Mallory Murray, of Kenai, Katelyn Murray, of Fountain Valley, and Meghan Henry, of Henderson; grandsons, Michael J. Henry, III, of Henderson, and Connor Henry of Henderson; sister, Linda Holland, of Medford, Ore.; and uncle Jack Houser, of Los Gatos, Calif.
