Danielle and Jack Dean, of Kenai, announce the birth of their son, Lawrence Justice Lee Dean, on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at 8:37 p.m., at Central Peninsula Hospital, in Soldotna. He weighed 8.5 pounds and measured 20.5 inches. Lawrence joins siblings Emarie, 8; and Silas, 5. His grandparents are Lori and Rich Edwards, of Kenai; Sheryl and Steve Fanning, of Sterling; and Rocky O'Brant, of Anchorage.

A 50-year reunion dinner for Kenai High School graduates will be held at Paradisos Restaurant in downtown Kenai from 4 p.m. to midnight on July 8. The dinner is open to all graduates of the class of 1961, spouses and/or guests, former teachers and school board members. A reunion school picnic is planned on July 9 at the Cotton Moore Homestead in Sterling. All classmates from the old territorial school through classes of 1964 are invited to attend. The food bank will get money from the Feinstein challenge based on how much is donated by the community from March 1 to April 30.
For the 14th consecutive year, Alan Shawn Feinstein will distribute $1 million among hunger fighting agencies nationwide to help organizations raise funds this March and April. Donations can include cash, checks and food items (valued at $1 per item or pound) or pledges. Mr. Feinstein's million dollars will be divided proportionately among all agencies that meet a minimum of $250 and a maximum of $35,000 in donations. The Peninsula has received more than $1,000 a year from this fund since 2006. The Clarion is seeking information for its annual Just Kidding section with listings of summer events for youth. Organizations, businesses, individuals or churches planning summer events open to area youth May through August may submit activities.
