Firewise program discussed at luncheon

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon at noon Thursday at the Lighthouse Inn. Nikiski Fire Chief Billy Harris will speak on the Firewise Program. The meeting is open to the public.

First aid class offered

The American Red Cross will hold a community CPR and first aid class Saturday at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Red Cross courses are taught by certified instructors and satisfy all OSHA workplace regulations for first aid and CPR skills. The deadline for registration is noon Friday. The registration fee of $47 is used by the Red Cross to help families on the Kenai Peninsula during times of emergency or natural disasters.

Employment workshop offered in Homer

The Kenai Peninsula Job Center will sponsor a workshop, targeting unemployed persons interested in self-employment, at 9 a.m. Saturday at the east campus of Kenai Peninsula College in Homer. For more information and to register, call 262-2365. The workshop is free.

Women's issues to be discussed at forum

The Kenai Peninsula Women's Political Caucus will hold a forum discussion Sunday at the Borough Building from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The forum will consist of peninsula women representing education, public safety, public health, religion and business. Sammy Crawford will moderate. The discussion will address issues facing women today and also balancing home, work and family.
