Gensel named to dean's list

Former Soldotna resident Andrea Jane Gensel was named to the dean's list at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.

She will be recognized for her achievement at the University's Honors Convocation on April 17.

Gensel is currently pursuing a degree from the university's Department of Health and Kinesiology.

She is the daughter of Katherine and Daniel Gensel and a 2001 graduate of Soldotna High School.

CANstruction awards given

The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank's CANstruction contest recently was held at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. Awards were presented to: Best of show-USDA Service Center employee's for their Polar Bear sculpture consisting of 1,057 pounds of food; and Best of Youth award-The Soldotna Bible Chapel Youth Group using 360 pounds of food products to construct a cross.

The 2006 CANstruction contest will be held March 20 through April 1 at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. For more information, Linda Swarner at 262-3111.
