Longtime Alaskan and Funny River Resident, Mr. Wesley D. Warner, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at his home on Funny River Road. He was 80.
Memorial services will be held 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at The Funny River Community Lutheran Church, 35575 Rabbit Run Road off Funny River Road. Pastor Stan Simonik will officiate. An additional celebration of life and the scattering of his cremated remains will be held at a later date.
Mr. Warner was born June 7, 1930 to Garner and Sadie (Merritt) Warner in Jerome, Idaho. He graduated from Salmon High School in Salmon, Idaho. Wesley moved to Alaska in July of 1966. He lived in Anchorage from 1966 until he moved to Funny River in 1992. He lived in the Funny River area for 19 years. He was an avid fisherman.
The family wrote, "Wesley was a loving husband and father. He was an avid fisherman and loved Alaska."
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Carla R. Warner of Funny River; daughter, Wendy S. Hagman and her husband, Warren, of Las Vegas, Nev. and Frances R. Warner of Rose Hill, Miss.; sons, Wesley W. Warner of Funny River, Ernest M. Warner of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, and Dr. Paul R. Warner of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughter, Dr. Aleta L. Hagman-Tiemens and her husband, Dr. Ben Tiemens of Chicago, Ill.; and grandson, Shelby Z. Hagman of Charleston, Va.
