ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Maintenance crews have repaired a 60-foot section of corroded pipe near Pump Station 4 of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline, according to Alyeska Pipeline Service Co.
Alyeska officials say the pipe was excavated, analyzed, recoated with an anti-corrosive material and then reburied. Pump Station 4 is just north of the Brooks Range.
An 8-inch fuel gas line that runs parallel to the main pipeline also was uncovered, analyzed and repaired, Alyeska said. The fuel gas line provides natural gas to power the first four pump stations.
Alyeska said the repairs had been scheduled as part of this year's corrosion management plan.
