JUNEAU (AP) -- The head of Cook Inlet Regional Corp. has been named to the Alaska Railroad's board of directors.
Gov. Tony Knowles named Carl Marrs to the board of the state-owned railroad Wednesday.
Marrs will fill the seat of Dale Lindsay of Seward, who resigned last June.
Marrs was born and raised in Seldovia. He started his career with CIRI in 1973 and worked his way up to president. CIRI has holdings in telecommunications, real estate, construction, heavy equipment and natural resources.
The Alaska Railroad operates on 611 miles of track from Fairbanks to Seward. Last year, it had total revenues of $94 million.
