Easter story should not be forgotten

Posted: Tuesday, April 05, 2005

The Bible is the story of God redeeming his chosen people for the praise of his glory. The story began in eternity past when God made a plan that his son, Jesus Christ, would suffer, die on a cross and be resurrected as an act of divine justice to secure the salvation of chosen people by forgiving their sins without compromising his own perfect holy standard for humanity.

God revealed his redemption plan to mankind by making a promise to Abraham 2,000 years before Jesus Christ was born at Bethlehem. The promise was to his people that he would someday pay the price for their sins.

The promise was kept when he sent his son, Jesus Christ, to lay down his life so that all who truly trust in him would be raised to eternal life. Such saved people are said to be reborn believers.

Reborn believers indwelled by the Holy Spirit are saved by God's grace through faith, by having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, by accepting him as their Lord and Savior and by confessing and reporting their sins.

For reborn believers, Easter is a season when we celebrate the gift of the cross at Calvary. For it is written:

I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary

To view the Cross where Jesus died for me.

How marvelous the grace that caught my falling soul

He looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

Saved in the Cross of Jesus.

Amazing Grace should always be my song of praise,

For it was grace that bought my liberty.

I do not know just why He came to love me so,

He looked beyond my fault and saw my need.

Saved in the Cross of Jesus.

To find true peace, love, joy and the pathway to heaven remember the Easter story of the cross.
