Loyd Leon Brantley passed away of heart failure on March 20th in Modesto, CA at the age of 83. He is preceded in death by his wife Velma, parents Charlie and Lela Brantley, brothers Charlie and Wayne, and sister Betty Hammond.
Loyd was born on November 25, 1926 in Durrant, OK. He moved to Alaska in 1957 with his wife Velma and three children, David, Earlene and Galen. Loyd traveled frequently over the next 53 years, but could not stay away from Alaska. He had a passion for fishing and elaborate fish tales. He was extremely proud that one of his children planted roots and made Alaska their permanent home. Loyd was never afraid of a challenge, even while facing death. He was our anchor and will be forever loved and missed.
He is survived by sisters, Charlsie Hamilton of Hugo, OK, Yubalene Sinibaldi of Stockton, CA; brothers, Delmar Brantley of Oak View, CA, Joe Brantley of Atwater, CA; children, David and Mary Brantley of Patterson, CA, Earlene and Jerry Saunders of Modesto, CA, Galen and Patty Brantley of Soldotna; grandchildren, Tammy Reed of Escalon, CA, Jerry Saunders of Visalia, CA, Christine Steele of Modesto, CA, Brenda Quinn of Soldotna, John Saunders of Modesto, CA, Galen Brantley Jr., of Soldotna, Jeremy Brantley of Soldotna, Josh Brantley of Soldotna; great grandchildren, Lacey McClure Saunders, Mike McClure Saunders, Brittany Hostetler, Chandler Saunders, Catarina Steele, David Steele, Annie Quinn, Galen Brantley III, Emma Brantley, Elias Brantley and Hannah Saunders.
