Peninsula Job Center advisory committee to meet

The advisory committee of the Peninsula Job Center will meet today from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the job center's conference room. Those attending are asked to bring their own lunch.

Borough trails panel to discuss Iditarod Trail

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Trails Commission will meet at 7 tonight at Seward City Hall to discuss the past, present and future of the Iditarod Trail on the Kenai Peninsula. There will be a slide presentation on the history of the trail and discussion of potential funding sources for completion of the trail in the borough. It is the only national historic trail in the state of Alaska and was designated a Millennium Trail in 1999.

Also to be addressed at tonight's meeting is the Exit Glacier Road Pedestrian Trail.

Red Cross offers community CPR-first aid

The American Red Cross is holding a community CPR-first aid class Saturday at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture building. Courses are taught by Red Cross certified instructors and satisfy OSHA workplace regulations. Those wanting to participate should register before noon Friday by calling Debra Holle at 262-4541. The registration fee of $47 is used by the Red Cross to help families on the Kenai Peninsula during times of emergency or natural disasters.

Genealogy society offers help for tracing family trees

The Kenai Totem Tracers Genealogy Society will host a work and help session Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Kenai Community Library conference room.

A member will be available to give advice and guide beginners in tracing their family trees.

Kenai Historical Society to meet Sunday

The public is invited to attend a meeting of the Kenai Historical Society at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Kenai Community Library.

Charter school to conduct enrollment lottery

Aurora Borealis Charter School, a public school within the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, will conduct an enrollment lottery on Tuesday. The lottery determines the 2000-2001 school year placement of students currently on a waiting list.

Personnel from Mikunda, Cottrell and Company, certified public accountants, will supervise the lottery. Applications and copies of the enrollment and lottery procedures are available at the school office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

All applications for enrollment for the 2000-2001 school year must be delivered in person to the school office no later than 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Easter cantata performance time corrected

The United Methodist Church of the New Covenant choir will perform "Crown Him King" at the church at 8:30 a.m. April 23.
