ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Two men have been arrested on charges of importing alcohol into the village of Noorvik, Alaska State Troopers report.
Marvin Kagoona, 33, was arrested and charged with importation of alcohol. Edward Coffin III, 22, faces charges of importation of alcohol and possession of alcohol for sale, a felony.
The arrests came after Kotzebue troopers were told Thursday that alcohol was being sold at the village basketball tournament.
Kagoona was driving his snowmachine into the village with 13 bottles of whisky when he was stopped, troopers said. They seized his snowmachine as well as the liquor.
Coffin brought in 12 bottles of alcohol, troopers said.
Coffin used Beth Brown's snowmachine to transport the alcohol, and Troopers said Brown, 21, was given four bottles of alcohol for the snowmachine use.
A charge of importation of alcohol against Brown has been referred to the district attorney.
