The Bible is the story of God redeeming his chosen people for the praise of his glory. The story began in eternity past when God made a plan that his son, Jesus Christ, would suffer, die on a cross and be resurrected as an act of divine justice to secure the salvation of chosen people by forgiving their sins without compromising his own perfect holy standard for humanity.
The Bible was written so God’s people would know that they would have eternal life. The Apostle John wrote, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God (Jesus Christ) that you may know the you have eternal life.”
Eternal life is having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ now and forever more in heaven. Can you imagine walking and talking with the creator of all things in one of heaven’s gardens? God revealed his redemption plan to mankind by making a promise to Abraham 2,000 years before Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem.
The promise was kept when he sent his son, Jesus Christ, to lay down his life so that all who truly trust in him would be raised to eternal life. Such saved people are said to be born again believers. To be born again, you must ask Jesus to be the Lord and Savior of you life, repent of your sins and follow him, believe that he took your place and paid for all your sins on the cross of Calvary and transfer your trust from yourself to Jesus alone for the gift of eternal life.
For born again believers, Easter is a season when we celebrate the gift of the Cross at Calvary.
A favorite Easter hymn goes like this: I shall forever lift mine eyes to Calvary To view the Cross where Jesus died for me, How marvelous the grace that caught my falling soul He looked beyond my fault and saw my need. Saved in the Cross of Jesus. He is the work of God and Creator. He came as a lamb to be sacrificed. He will soon return as Lord of Lords and King of Kings. He is the truth of Easter.
