Lieutenant to outline Coast Guard operations

Lt. Michael Franklin, supervisor of the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment in Kenai, will discuss local Coast Guard operations during the Kenai Historical Society meeting set for 1 p.m. today in the lower level of the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant. It is open to the public.

Silly song auditions today

The public is invited to the Kenai Community Library Silly Song & Lyrics contest at 6 p.m. Monday in the library. Auditions for the contest will be held at 2 p.m. today in the conference room. Lyrics must be original and appropriate for a family audience and may not exceed three minutes in length. The winning song will be selected by audience acclaim and be aired on KSRM radio.

Little League clinics slated

Kenai Little League baseball clinics have been changed to every Monday night beginning April 7 and continuing through the end of April at Kenai Middle School. Clinics for players 5-10 years old will be from 7 to 8 p.m. and for players 11 and older will be from 8 to 9 p.m.

Sign-ups will be conducted at the Kenai Safeway store from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Players can also register during the Monday clinics.

PFLAG to meet Tuesday

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Kaladi Brothers in Soldotna.

Soldotna historians' board plans meeting

The Soldotna Historical Society Board of Directors will conduct its monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Charlotte's Cafe in River City Books in Soldotna. The board meeting is open to the public.

Pet trick contest announced

People whose pets do unusual tricks are invited to submit audition tapes between noon and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday to the Triumvirate Bookstore in the Peninsula Center Mall. Tapes may also be mailed to 10672 Kenai Spur Highway, Suite 112 #174, Kenai AK, 99611. Pet owners' phone numbers and e-mail addresses should also be included.
