Longtime Sterling resident Frank M. Steger died Friday, April 3, 2009, with his family by his side at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 78.
A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at the Sterling Senior Center. Pastor James Pearson will officiate. A reception will follow at the center.
Mr. Steger was born June 24, 1930, in Donnelly, Minn. He moved to Alaska in June 1969. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, commercial fisherman and in mining.
"He will be dearly missed by all," his family said.
Mr. Steger was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Kevin Steger.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Steger of Sterling; children, Gary and Karyn Steger of Chehalis, Wash., Iretta and Garrett Mahan of Delta Junction, Jean Mahan of Sterling, Delen Steger of Soldotna, Denise and Randy Sipes and Scott and Stacy Steger, all of Sterling; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Edward Delong of Herman, Minn.; brother-in-law, Edwin Hohn of Sterling; grandchildren, Dale, Carol, Duane, Randy, Garrett, Wendel, Mark, Jeff, Twyla, Tamra, Jarred, Alexandria, Steven, Laura, Jenna, Kaitlyn, Mike, John, Tia, Meghan, Trevor, Tera and Marlee; numerous great-grandchildren; and extended family.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
