Arts and crafts show to raise money for school

The Kenai Middle School PTA will host an arts and crafts show Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Almost two dozen vendors from across the Kenai Peninsula will be on hand offering Beanie Babies, cosmetics, Tupperware, hand-made jewelry and myriad other items for sale.

The show will also include a full concession stand. The booths will be in the commons area just inside the middle school's front doors.

Proceeds will go to technology and field trips for the middle school students.

Elks preparing for celebrity basketball game

The Kenai Elks Lodge No 2425 has begun its third annual NFL Celebrity All-Star Basketball Game drive with phone calls for tickets and program subscriptions.

This year's drive will help provide funds toward the purchase of a volunteer vehicle for Kenai Peninsula veterans. The game will be at 7 p.m. June 10 at Kenai Central High School. Doors will open at 6.

Meeting place changed for GOP convention

The District 8 Republicans (Soldotna-Seward) will hold a biennial convention at 9 a.m. Saturday at Soldotna Assembly of God church, not at the Princess Lodge in Cooper Landing as originally scheduled.
