Office of Risk Management helps protect borough's assets

Question: What is the function of the Borough Office of Risk Management?
Answer: Risk Management's main function is to help preserve borough assets from sudden, unexpected financial losses. Risk Management provides this service for the borough, school district and service areas through a combination of self-insurance and purchased commercial insurance.
Approximately 300 self-insured property and liability claims are processed every year. The most common type of internal property claim relates to the repair of damage to various school facilities caused by vandalism. Risk Management aggressively pursues prosecution and restitution from responsible individuals who damage borough facilities to reduce the financial burden on taxpayers.
One project the Office of Risk Management initiated is the successful program to have summer RV'ers stay at the various schools to reduce school vandalism. In addition to safety and loss prevention services, Risk Management provides environmental compliance assistance to the borough, school district and service areas.
