Safari Club club seeks young hunters
Hunters under the age of 16 who were successful during the 2001 season are eligible for a young hunter award from the Kenai Peninsula Chapter of the Safari Club International.
Awards will be announced at the Midnight Sun dinner and sportsman fund-raiser auction slated for April 20 at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Christianity and nature discussion planned
Peter Illyn, of the nonprofit group Restoring Eden, will lead a discussion entitled "Theology of the Wild," which will focus on biblical Christianity and the stewardship of nature. Illyn will speak at 7 p.m. Monday at the Methodist Church in Homer and at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church on the Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna. For more information, call 235-4068 ext. 22.
Hospital board to meet
The Central Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board will hold its monthly meeting April 15 at 5:30 p.m. in the Iliamna room at the Central Peninsula General Hospital. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call 262-9892.
Borough reminds public of gas disposal policy
The Kenai Peninsula Borough would like to inform the public of new regulations regarding the disposal of compressed gas cylinders. Only cylinders that are completely empty with pressure released and pressure valve removed are accepted at borough transfer sites for disposal. Soccer tryouts scheduled
The Kenai Peninsula Soccer Club will hold tryouts at Soldotna Middle School for children ages 9 through 15. Tryouts will be held April 28 at 3 p.m. for boys and girls born between Aug. 1, 1986, and July 31, 1988.
Tryouts for boys and girls born between Aug. 1 1988, and July 31, 1993, will be held May 4 beginning at noon. Registration is $20 or $35 the day of the tryouts. Players are asked to bring a parent, soccer gear, a water bottle and a soccer ball. For more information, call 776-5529 or 283-2799.
Artist applications being accepted
The Kenai Watershed Forum is accepting applications from Kenai Peninsula artists to reserve booth space at the Kenai River Festival June 8 and 9 in Kenai.
