JUNEAU (AP) The Alaskan Brewing Co. has purchased two new brewing tanks to keep up with a growing demand for Alaskan Summer Ale, company official said.
The two tanks, one with a 400-barrel capacity and one with a 1,300-barrel capacity, were installed in late March.
The stainless steel tanks were manufactured in Missouri and shipped to Juneau via barge from Seattle. They will help meet the growing demand for the Alaska ale, said Curtis Holmes, plant manager for the company.
Business at the brewery is up nearly 15 percent from last year, coinciding with the growing popularity of craft beer nationwide, company officials said.
The Alaska Brewing Co. distributes beer throughout Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada and Northern California, as well as in small quantities to Japan and the United Kingdom.
