Nikiski Freestyle wrestlers fare well

Members of the Nikiski Freestyle Wrestling Club fared well at the Homer Tournament Saturday. The squad racked up 148 total points to finish second in the team standings.

In the Pre-bantam division, Corin Cooper recorded a first place finish, Ian Johnson and Chase Giles each placed second and Berit Sturgeon was fifth in their respective weight classes.

In the Bantam class, Luke Johnson and Christian Riddall each earned firsts, Logan Griffel and Sara Bascara took home seconds, Amanda Moore finished third and Kyle Cooper notched a fifth.

In the Midget class, Morgan Suave, Drake Driver and Jesse Kuntz placed first. Garrett Feller, Kenai Sparkman and Walter Moore had second-place finishes, Jesse Ross, Dylan Griffith, John Paul Turinsky and Mahlon Troyer had third-place finishes, Lincoln Johnson took fourth, and Cole Covey clinched a fifth-place finish.

In the Novice division, Kyle Moore earned a first while Matt Parker, Trevor Ray, L.J. Covey, Kassi Johnson and Hailey Driver all recorded seconds. Kaden Sturgeon finished third and Dylan Jackson notched a fourth. In the Schoolboy division, Michael Suave, Colter Holliday and Ben Michaels each notched first-place finishes. Deni Humphrey placed second and Bryan Worner was fifth. In the Cadet division, Corey Smith recorded a first-place finish.
