PALMER (AP) -- One incumbent and one challenger were elected to the board of Matanuska Electric Association Saturday in a fairly close election.
Incumbent Jim Hermon was the top vote-getter with 4,709 votes. Elementary school principal Scott Daugherty collected 4,383 votes to capture the other seat on the seven-member board.
Challenger Kim Robinson finished third with 4,163 votes. Incumbent Wes Pollock had 4,033 votes and former board member Tom Staudenmaier 1,298.
In an advisory question, members supported the cooperative emphasizing rate reductions over capital credit payouts. The results of the election are scheduled to be certified Monday.
