Area student makes dean's list

Allison Senette of Soldotna has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at the University of Pittsburgh, earning a grade point average of 3.8.

She is a sophomore studying psychology and is a 2000 graduate of Soldotna High School. Her parents are Lynn and Brent Senette of Soldotna.

Seward woman graduates basic training

Air Force Airman Shanna N. Sears of Seward has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. During six weeks of training, she studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs, performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training and special training in human relations.

By completing basic training, she also earned credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Sears is a 2000 graduate of Seward High School and is the daughter of Dale Sears and Katy Washik of Seward.

Kasilof man's son joins Army

Jeremy E. Misner of Washington has enlisted in the U.S. Army Infantry, qualifying for a $4,000 cash incentive. He recently left for basic training at Fort Benning, Ga.

He is a 1999 graduate of North Thurston High School in Olympia, Wash., and is the son of Daniel L. Misner of Kasilof and Anna M. Misner of Lacey, Wash.
