FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A Fairbanks man has been convicted of sexually abusing two teenage girls last year.

Chad E. Nelson, 27, was found guilty on charges that he fondled his wife's sister, 15 at the time, and the girl's 16-year-old friend after giving them alcohol on April 20, 2002.

After a four-day trial last week, Nelson was convicted of one count each of first- and second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, one count of third-degree sexual assault and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for providing the girls with alcohol.

Jurors reached a conclusion in the case late Friday afternoon following closing statements earlier in the day. Nelson is scheduled to be sentenced on July 22.
