"What I do you cannot do; but what you do, I cannot do. The needs are great, and none of us, including me, ever do great things. But we can all do small things, with great love, and together we can do something wonderful." -- Mother Teresa.
The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank wishes to express our sincere appreciation to Carrie Hegwer of Signatures Salon for organizing the central Peninsula "Matrix's Spread the Love" campaign on March 30. Participating salons included Affinity Salon, Halcyon Spalon, Mary's Hairstyling, Filigree & Hues Hair Design, Anew Professional Salon, AK Kutz, Maxim Hair Design, AK Salon, Stylistix Salon, Spotlight Styles, 27 Red, Jasmin's Hair Design, Tina's Hair Pros, Evolve Salon, River City Salon and Hey Good Lookin'. Thanks to Matrix US and to the generous residents of the Kenai Peninsula for their excellent teamwork on the "Spread the Love" food drive benefiting the Food Bank, which took place on March 30. Signatures Salon collected 641 pounds of canned and dry goods, and the other 16 participating salons gathered 507 pounds, for a total of 1,148 pounds of food items. This represents 765 meals, at 1.5 pounds of food served per person.
As an added result of this food drive, the Food Bank will receive proportionate funds from the 14th Annual $1 million Alan Shawn Feinstein Challenge for all food items, monetary donations, and pledges given by the community from March 1 through April 30.
Again, we say thank you to all those involved. Rest assured that you are making a difference in the daily lives of your neighbors, and by this, we are all made better.
