Soldotna man crushed in accident

A Soldotna man was found dead early Monday morning at Peak Oilfield Services in Nikiski.

John Robinson, 51, a truck driver for Arctech Services, was found crushed between two flatbed trailers in the Peak truck yard.

Alaska State Troopers in Soldotna said they believe he was returning a stack of trailers to the yard when he crawled between two of them. The legs holding the upper trailer apparently collapsed and it fell on him, troopers said.

First Sgt. Charles Tressler said investigators believe the accident occurred sometime Sunday morning, though Robinson was not found until someone arrived at Peak around 12:50 a.m. Monday and called police. Both troopers and Nikiski Emergency Medical Services responded.

According to troopers, no foul play is suspected in the accident.

"It is being considered an occupational accident," Tressler said.
