UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Rod Brind'Amour scored early in the third period to lift the Carolina Hurricanes to a 2-1 victory over the New York Islanders on Monday night in a possible first-round playoff preview.
The Hurricanes need one point to clinch the Southeast Division title, and with it, the third seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Panthers 4, Flyers 4
PHILADELPHIA -- Pierre Dagenais scored his second goal of the game with 16.6 seconds left in the third period to give Florida a tie with Philadelphia.
The Flyers pulled within three points of the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Bruins. Each team has three games left.
Maple Leafs 4, Blue Jackets 1
TORONTO -- Alexander Mogilny had a goal and an assist as Toronto won its final regular-season home game.
Jyrki Lumme, Robert Reichel and Bryan McCabe also scored for the Maple Leafs, who moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of idle Ottawa. Both teams have three games left.
Wild 3, Sharks 1
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Pascal Dupuis, Richard Park and Sergei Zholtok scored as Minnesota prevented San Jose from moving into second place in the Western Conference.
Manny Fernandez made 18 saves for the Wild, who ended a five-game losing streak with their 26th victory -- one more than their total last season.
Rangers 3, Penguins 2
NEW YORK -- Pavel Bure scored two goals and Eric Lindros added another as New York won its fifth straight game, one day after being eliminated from the playoffs.
With the game tied at 1, Bure scored on a lightning-quick wraparound with 5:01 remaining. Lindros added his team-leading 36th goal with 3:21 to go, but the Rangers will still miss the postseason for the fifth straight season.
Kings 3, Stars 0
LOS ANGELES -- Ziggy Palffy had a goal and two assists, and Adam Deadmarsh scored a power-play goal as Los Angeles won its third straight.
The Kings moved into a fourth-place tie with Chicago in the Western Conference and have a chance to claim home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
