Photographers guild to meet

The Kenai Peninsula Photographers Guild will meet at 7 p.m. today at Kenai Peninsula College, room 132. Participants will view and discuss the Kenai Watershed Forum's photo exhibit in the campus gallery, and also may bring slides or photos to share. For more information, call Marianne at 398-0649.

Murkowski representative to speak at chamber

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon Thursday at the North Kenai Baptist church. A member of Gov. Frank Murkowski's budget committee will be the guest speaker. For more information, call 776-3250.

CRPC meeting planned

Community Rivers Planning Coalition will hold its monthly business meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Chapman School in Anchor Point to discuss the SCA intern project, the CRPC trail-head sign, the five-year timber harvest sales plan and other community issues. Wrestling club to hold fund-raisers

The North Road Panthers wrestling club will hold a garage sale Thursday through Sunday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at 47587 North Miller Loop Road in Nikiski.

Horse first-aid class planned this week

Soldotna Community Schools will hold a class, First Aid for Horses, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Soldotna Middle School, room 1, and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at 42930 Brenda Way (Happy Trails Horsemanship Stables off Mackey Lake Road). The class was previously listed as a horse nutrition class.

The first session will be classroom based and include first-aid techniques and supplies commonly utilized around the barn setting. Julie Britton will be the instructor.

The second session will be hands-on with horses at the stables. Large-animal veterinarian Dr. Jerry Nybakken will be available at this session. Bandaging techniques, how to give a horse a shot and various techniques of holding a horse while the veterinarian administers care will be practiced by each participant. The cost of the class is $20.

Used book sale planned

The Soldotna Homeschool Support Group will hold its third annual used curriculum and used book sale Friday from 1 to 5:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church at the "Y" in Soldotna. For more information, call 262-6282.

4-H Petting zoo planned

Kenai Peninsula 4-H will hold a petting zoo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. 4-H members will have sheep, rabbits, goats and other small animals available, as well as educational displays and projects. For more information, call 262-5824.

Volunteer court observers sought

Alaska Judicial Observers is seeking volunteers to observe court proceedings in the Kenai Courthouse. The group monitors court proceedings in Anchorage, Palmer and Kenai, and its reports are among those used by the Alaska Judicial Council in its evaluation of judges up for retention.

Training for observers will be conducted at Kenai City Hall, starting at 8:45 a.m. April 22. Volunteers are required to call (907) 646-9880 for prescreening by April 16.

KDLL board to meet

KDLL-FM public radio's board of directors will meet at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Economic Development District building, three miles north of Kenai. The meeting is open to the public. For more information, call 283-8433.

Chamber plans July 4 meeting
