Name change sought
The Peninsula Clarion is looking to rename its arts and entertainment section, and wants help from our readers. The name may be more than one word and should incorporate all aspects of the arts and entertainment, including painting, sculpting, crafts, music, acting, movies, television, books, video games and hobbies.
The winner will receive dinner for two. The deadline for submissions is Friday at 6 p.m. Submissions must include your name, address and phone number and may be e-mailed to email@example.com, faxed "attention newsroom" to (907) 283-3299, mailed to P.O. Box 3009, Kenai, AK 99611, or dropped off at the Clarion office between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at 150 Trading Bay in Kenai. For more information, call 283-7551.
The LeeShore Center will hold a community awareness workshop on domestic violence and sexual assault from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through April 14 at the center. The topics include domestic violence, sexual assault, the effects of domestic violence on children, the batterers intervention program and volunteering with shelter clients.
Continuing education credit may be attained after completion of the workshop and 30 hours of volunteer work with the center. It is open to the public. Participants may attend a portion or the entire workshop. For more information, call 283-9479.
Habitat seeks applicants
Central Peninsula Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for its building season through Monday. Applications are available by calling 283-7797, 283-3910 or by mail at CPHfH, P.O. Box 2113, Kenai, AK 99611.
First aid training slated
The Soldotna Community Schools will offer a first aid class from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Monday in Room 8 at Soldotna Middle School. The class is for teens and adults. The cost is $45. For more information, call 262-6768.
