ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A 27-year-old man accused of stabbing his mother to death has pleaded not guilty to murder.
Aaron Butler entered the plea during his arraignment by phone Wednesday from the Alaska Psychiatric Institute in Anchorage where he is undergoing an evaluation.
During an interview with Alaska State Troopers after the March 26 murder, authorities said, Butler confessed to killing Grace Butler, 54, in their home near Wasilla. He told officers he suffered from schizophrenia.
Trial is set for July 8. A pretrial conference hearing is scheduled for May 23.
