May Faire scheduled

The second annual Kenai River Council on the Arts May Faire Renaissance celebration will be from 3 to 9 p.m. May 18 at the Kenai Fine Arts Center on Cook Avenue in Kenai. Catering will be provided by Mykel's Restaurant. The event will feature arts and crafts booths and activities for all ages. For information about being a vendor at May Faire, call Marty Hapeman at 262-1777.

Mount Marathon race art contest extended

The Seward Chamber of Commerce's Mount Marathon Race artwork contest deadline has been extended. T-shirt designs may be submitted until Tuesday to the Mount Marathon Race Committee at P.O. Box 749, Seward, AK 99664. The design must fit on a 8.5-by-11-inch piece of paper and have four-color printing capabilities.

A $100 prize will be awarded to the artist with the winning design. For more information, call (907) 224-8051.

T-shirt design contest announced

The Pratt Museum in Homer is sponsoring a T-shirt design contest for area students. Grade categories are kindergarten through third, fourth through sixth, seventh and eighth and ninth through 12th. The winning designer will get $100. Runner-ups in each grade category will get a $25 gift certificate for the Pratt Museum Store.

Students may enter as many designs as they want. Designers are encouraged to use their imaginations to create their favorite Pratt exhibit or a collage of images from the Pratt that has inspired them.
