The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association's 24th annual Home Show is this weekend at the Soldotna Sports Center.
More than 100 exhibitors will display their products and services Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (A complete list of exhibitors is printed in the Home Show insert in today's Peninsula Clarion.)
The show actually opens with an American flag ceremony presented by the Young Marines at 8:45 a.m. Saturday in front of the Sports Center, according to Cindy Heaverley, the association's executive officer.
In addition to the exhibits, the show will offer seminars and demonstrations in the conference room on such topics as pest management and bugs in the garden, mold information for homes in Alaska, special windows for Alaska's harsh climate and inspection information for homeowners building their own homes.
The association also will be raffling off a children's playhouse with all proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula. Tickets for the raffle, which cost $5, will be available at the show.
Free drawings for door prizes, including cash, will be conducted throughout the show. A concession stand will be open both days and admission to the show is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and students and free for children under 12.
"On behalf of the Kenai Peninsula builders, we would like to thank the community for supporting us and enabling us to put on this show for 24 consecutive years," Heaverley said.
