The second annual Kachemak Kayak Fest has been scheduled for May 23 through June 1 in Homer.
The waters of Kachemak Bay, surrounded by snow-capped mountains provide the backdrop for the 10-day festival, which will feature activities for everyone from the first-time paddler to the expert. Events will include: kayak demonstrations and test rides; workshops on rescue skills, weather and navigation; lectures on technique, safety and gear; a keynote speaker; a race; a fashion show; a barbecue; movies; and an exploding kayak act in addition to the boundless paddling opportunities.
