Church Basketball Invitational today

The 11th annual Church Basketball Invitational is continuing Friday and Saturday at Cook Inlet Academy and Soldotna Bible Chapel. Eight teams from around the central Kenai Peninsula are competing to get to the championship game Saturday afternoon at Cook Inlet Academy.

This year's tournament also features a fund-raiser for SOAR International's Siberia dental program. To raise the funds, SOAR is sponsoring a pastor's free-throw contest with each pastor trying to get the best of 10 shots. Local pastors have received pledges for each shot they make. School to present adolescent issues video

Redoubt Elementary will present "Parent to Parent," a video-based program to help parents deal directly with children on issues facing adolescents Tuesday, Thursday, April 22 and 24 at the school from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. For more information, call Donna at 262-9006.

Community council to discuss DOT issues

The North Peninsula Community Council will hold a community meeting to discuss Department of Transportation issues from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the Nikiski Senior Center. For more information, call Fred Miller at 776-3257.

Legion plans Easter egg hunt

The American Legion Post 18 in Ninilchik will host its annual Easter egg hunt April 20 at noon at the post. The public is welcome to attend. Many prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be served. For more information, call Katherine at (907) 567-3644.

Turn-off TV week scheduled

The Kenai Community Library, in conjunction with ConocoPhillips, will celebrate National Turn-Off TV Week April 21 through 27. Activities are planned throughout the week at the library. Caregiver seminar slated

The National Family Caregivers Support Program will hold a free three-day caregivers training seminar April 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and April 26 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center. For more information, call 262-5456 or (866) 776-8210.

Outdoor club to meet

United Way seeks committee volunteers

The Kenai Peninsula United Way is seeking volunteers to serve on its upcoming allocations review committee. Committee members will be responsible for a full-day commitment May 1.
