Author thanks area residents for supporting book

There's been considerable interest in a book I published, "Umnak: The People Remember," since Shana Loshbaugh's wonderful review appeared in the Clarion.

For everyone's information: "Umnak" was a commission from the Museum of the Aleutians at Unalaska, which receives 100 percent of proceeds from sales of the book. Jan O'Meara of Wizard Works in Homer is distributing "Umnak," and the last I heard it is also available at River City Books in Soldotna and the Homer Bookstore.

Of course, as editor and publisher, I enjoyed the review very much except for being considered a "former" Alaskan. I'm a Kenai kid who still says "going home" when I head north, and I head north every chance I get!
