SoHi after-prom committee to meet

The Soldotna High School after-prom party and parents of juniors committee will meet at 6 p.m. every Monday in the library until prom. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Boy Scouts food drive continues

Boys Scout troops in the Tustumena District are holding their annual Scouting for Food drive through April 17. Troop members will collect food door-to-door, or community members can call and schedule a pick-up. For more information, call Alex at 260-4413.

Kenai council schedules work sessions

The city of Kenai has scheduled work sessions on the fiscal year 2004-05 budget at 6 p.m. April 19 and 27 at the Kenai Council Chambers at 210 Fidalgo Ave. For more information, call 283-7535.

Photographers guild to meet

The Kenai Peninsula Photographers Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road across from Soldotna Municipal Airport. Members will show examples of their work and discuss photo ideas. The public is invited. Bring photos or slides to share. For more information, call Marianne at 398-0649.

Auction fund-raiser set

An auction fund-raiser to benefit Crystal Sholin will be held Tuesday at the Peninsula Grace Brethren Church on Kalifornsky Beach Road. Sholin is fighting breast cancer and all proceeds will go to help defray the cost of her medical bills.

There will be many items to bid on, including antiques and Alaskana. Donations can be made at the door. For more information and time, call 262-1843.

Soroptimists meeting slated

The Soroptimist International of the Twin Cities will hold its board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Soldotna Professional Pharmacy at 299 N. Binkley Street. For more information, call Lyn Hodel at 262-9253.

PenDOG offers videos

Peninsula Dog Obedience Group is offering a free video hour every Friday night at 6 in addition to its classes.

PenDOG, at Mile 1 of the Kenai Spur Highway in the Richards Veterinary Clinic in Soldotna, holds classes in agility; learning theory; Rally, a new obedience sport; and beginning, intermediate, advanced and competition obedience.

Puppy kindergarten meets weekly and is always open to new students.

Fish and Game bear baiting clinic set

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game will hold a black bear baiting clinic on the Kenai Peninsula. If you already have attended a clinic and have been certified, you do not need to recertify. Clinics are approximately three hours long. These clinics are open to the public, and there is no need to sign up to attend.

The clinic will be in Soldotna at 6 p.m. April 23 at the Kenai Peninsula Sport, Rec and Trade Show at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Those wanting to register a bait station in Units 7, 14A, 14B, 15, 16A or 20B may not do so unless they have successfully completed a Fish and Game-approved bear baiting clinic.
