Domestic violence workshop set

The LeeShore Center will hold a community awareness workshop on domestic violence and sexual assault from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday at the center. The topics will be domestic violence, sexual assault, the effects of domestic violence on children, the centers batterer's intervention program and volunteering with shelter clients.

Continuing education credit may be attained after completion of the workshop and 30 hours of volunteer work with the center. It is open to the public. Participants may attend a portion or the entire workshop. For more information, call 283-9479.

Blood drive scheduled

There will be a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday in the green room at Kenai Central High School. Walk-ins are welcome or call the Blood Bank of Alaska Kenai Peninsula Center at 260-5672 to schedule an appointment.

Rotary rose sale begins

The Soldotna Rotary Club will hold its annual rose sale Tuesday. A limited number of roses will be available for $20 per dozen. Proceeds will benefit the club's scholarship program and other community projects.

Roses can be pre-ordered by calling any member. A directory of board members' names is available at Roses also will be available at Sweeney's Clothing after Tuesday. For more information, call 398-6217.

Soldotna chamber to meet

Heidi Chay with Horizon Mediation Services will speak at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce at noon Tuesday at the Riverside House. For more information, call Shanon Hamrick at 262-9814.

PFLAG meeting planned

Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday. For more information and location, call 283-4678.

Skyview after-prom committee to meet

The Skyview High School after-prom committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the commons at the school until graduation. Volunteers are still needed. The topics will be volunteer scheduling, activity planning and party preparations.

YRC fund-raiser slated

Nikiski North Star Elementary School will host a dinner and auction fund-raiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Kenai Merit Inn. Dinner will be Kenai WILD salmon.

The proceeds will benefit the fifth- and sixth-graders' participation in the Youth Restoration Corps Stewardship Ranger Program. The cost is $30 per person. Tickets are available by calling the school at 776-5575, Youth Restoration Corps at 262-1032 and at the door.
