The Brown Bears recent playoff games in Fairbanks surprised the Fairbanks fans with a sizeable group of Kenai fans in the stands at the Big Dipper.
Cheering on their team, I'm sure the guys appreciated the support. What was not appreciated though, was the behavior of a minority of the fans. One fan had to be escorted out of the stands Friday after refusing to stop blasting an air horn after being asked.
Many of the fans kept standing up during play, and were asked repeatedly to stay in their seats so those behind them could see, security had to be brought in again.
There were quite a few verbal exchanges going on, with attitude from the underdogs fans. I have been attending games of all sorts at the Dipper for over 20 years. The Dipper is known as a hard place for opponents to win at. I would encourage visiting fans to leave Fairbanks fans with a good impression, to match the team, which has made a lot of progress and earned a lot of respect.
Now, on to round two and Nationals!
