When asked about the HEA board candidates I indicated I intended to vote for Ron Rainey. It was suggested that as a retired management employee he would side only with management.
Frankly, I want at least one person experienced enough about utility management to know when the board is being "B.S.-ed" or sandbagged by the administration. Rainey meets this requirement.
I also am quite sure Ron would not go along with payroll padding like what has happened with the Mat-Su co-op. MEA has been the hirer of last resort for political junkies who seem unable to get real jobs. Increases in natural gas prices are going to cause wholesale electric rates to rise dramatically. We have to keep costs down to slow rate increases.
And I believe that the purpose of HEA is to serve the members. The board needs a balance of interests to be sure the interests of the members come first.
Before I cast any vote for anything or anyone, I do carefully weigh the available information.
