Rowing club to give presentation

The Kenai Crewsers Rowing Club will give an introduction to rowing presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Soldotna Middle School library. For more information on competitive or recreational rowing in the area, call 260-OARS or Vickie at 262-1576.

Preschool to hold fund-raiser

The Soldotna Cooperative Preschool will hold a spaghetti feed fund-raiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 per person or $15 for a family of four. Door prizes will be given. For more information, call 262-9149.

Meeting set for historical society board

The Soldotna Historical Society will hold a board of directors meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at River City Books. The meeting is open to the public.

CPGH to offer childbirth classes

The Central Peninsula General Hospital will offer childbirth classes from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and a six-week series on childbirth from 6 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday beginning May 12 through June 6. For more information, the location or to register, call 714-4788.

Sunday last day to snowmachine in refuge

With spring conditions rapidly overtaking the Kenai Peninsula, the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge will be closed to snowmachining as of midnight Sunday. Those with planned trips should be cautious for unsafe waterbodies and eroding trail conditions.

Also, refuge management asks snowmachiners to be aware of moose and other wildlife they encounter to help minimize disturbing them after a stressful winter period.

Seniors to hold sale

The Sterling Senior Center will hold a trash and treasure sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 23 and 24 at the center. Tables are available to rent for $25. For more information, call 262-6808.

Rep. Wolf plans town meeting

Rep. Kelly Wolf, R-Kenai, will hold a town hall meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 24 at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly chambers. A legislative update will be given. Kayak festival scheduled

The Homer Chamber of Commerce will hold its third annual Kachemak Kayak Fest from May 28 through June 6 in Homer. Planned activities include kayak test rides, demonstrations, pleasure trips, extreme videos, a fashion show, adventure stories, photos and keynote speakers.
