Auction fund-raiser planned

An auction fund-raiser for Crystal Sholin will be held Tuesday at Peninsula Grace Brethren Church. Antiques and Alaska items will be some of the items available to bid on. All proceeds will go to help defray the cost of Sholin's breast cancer treatment. Donations can be made at the door. For more information, call 262-1843.

Relay for Life information available

The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of the Kenai Peninsula will begin at 6 p.m. June 4 at the Skyview High School track. The all-night event will include live music and a walking relay to support the society's Reach to Recovery, Look Better-Feel Better, Wig Loan Closet and support group programs. Team packets are available for pickup at Wells Fargo Bank.

There will be a team captain and informational meeting for team captains at 6 p.m. April 26 in the main conference room at Central Peninsula General Hospital. Those who can't attend should call Corbi Aaronson at 262-7711 for more information.

Host family needed

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District's CASTLE Home Program is looking for a Ninilchik or Kasilof family in the Ninilchik school area to provide a home for an 11th-grade young man from Port Graham for the 2004-05 school year. The district reimburses host families through stipends provided by the state of Alaska. Oilers seeking jobs, hosts for players

The Peninsula Oilers Alaska Baseball League is seeking host families and prospective employers for the players who will be arriving June 4.

Host families will need to be able to provide a room and bedding for seven weeks beginning in June and continuing through the first part of August; meals as needed (players will be away for 21 games); and a safe and welcoming environment for the player. The player is responsible for providing his own transportation; using his own telephone calling cards; and being considerate and mindful of the host family's household.
