Longtime Kenai resident Naomi Frances "Fran" Pease died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Wesley Care Center in Seward. She was 83.
A celebration of Ms. Pease's Life will be held at the American Legion Post No. 20 in Kenai at a later date. Her ashes will be scattered at sea at a later date.
Ms. Pease was born to Leo and Mildred Tierce in Abilene, Texas. She moved to Alaska with her husband, Al, in 1988. Ms. Pease spent most of her life in Kenai and was a member of the American Legion, VFW Women's Auxiliary and the Moose Family Lodge.
"Most people who knew Fran would say that she was the type of person to speak her mind. In spite of her very direct type of demeanor, there was a softer side. Various people have commented how she would be there to comfort friends when they were going through tough times. Her face would light up when she heard that her grandkids and great-grandkids were going to visit. May you find the tranquility you were searching for," wrote her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
She is survived by her brother Don Tierce and his wife, Carol, of Corpus Christi, Texas; son, Dennis Pease and his wife, Jan, of San Diego; daughter, Jana Whitmore and her husband, Shawn, of Soldotna; granddaughters, Celina Robinson of Soldotna, Aubrey Reilly and her husband, Zach,of Puyallup, Wash.; grandson, Cliff Robinson of Kenai; great-granddaughters, Arianna and Sarina Reilly of Puyallup and Bryonna Robinson of Monroeville, Md.; and great-grandsons, Logan and Conner Reilly of Puyallup.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
