Grant to mission appreciated

Posted: Monday, April 12, 2010

We at Friendship Mission acknowledge and thank Wal-mart Foundation for the $2,000 grant that was given to the Mission at the grand opening of the new Kenai Walmart store. These funds will be used as the Board feels they are most needed. We also want to thank Walmart for the employment opportunities that have been made available through the opening of their store. Two of our residents have gotten jobs at the store. This will eventually make it possible for them to get a place of their own and make a better live for themselves.

This community has supported the ministry of Friendship Mission with their donations of food, clothes, time and funds to repair the main building. A new well and sewer system has been the big holdup for us moving into that building. We've had a new well drilled last month and as soon as the ground is ready we hope to get the sewer system installed. The bathrooms and shower room are the main projects left to be done inside the building. We are hoping to be able to move in the renewed facility by the end of summer.

Thank you all for the generosity you have shown for the needs of our residents. May Our Lord bless all of you for your compassion.

Graydon and Mary Anne Cowgill
