Kodiak Launch complex gets new technical director

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The Alaska Aerospace Development Corp. has hired a technical director for the Kodiak Launch Complex.

Ed Allen has worked most recently as operations manager at Orbital Sciences Corp. and has 43 years of launch experience.

Allen will work with customers and will be responsible for operations, planning and marketing the Kodiak Launch Complex.

The $40 million commercial spaceport is expected to be completed by September.

The first satellite launch from the facility is expected to take place next summer.
