Rash of thefts plague Sterling

Alaska State Troopers are seeking more information on three separate burglaries that occurred in Sterling.

Troopers responded to a burglary call Saturday at the Abundant Life Assembly of God around 12:15 p.m.

Sometime between 10:30 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday, an unknown number of people entered two buildings on church property, stealing miscellaneous items.

The suspects stole food items, money and 600 plastic Easter eggs filled with candy.

The investigation is ongoing.

Sterling resident Shane Brown reported Saturday that a theft had taken place at his home. The call was made around 8:40 a.m.

Two Artic Cat snowmachines were stolen from Brown's yard Saturday sometime during the early morning hours.

One snowmachine was recovered during the investigation, however, one still remains missing. The snowmachine in question is a 1998 Arctic Cat 600 Powder Special. It has a white cowling with Tesoro Iron Dog decals. It also has a blue rack on the rear of the snowmachine.

The investigation continues.

Troopers responded to a third theft-related call Friday at Magpye's Pizzeria around 1 p.m.

Staff members reported a burglary had taken place. Alcohol was stolen along with change from the tills.

The incident occurred sometime between 10 p.m. April 2 and 11:30 a.m. April 3.

This investigation also is ongoing.
