The eruption of Redoubt continued Sunday according to the Alaska Volcano Observatory.
AVO scientists report Seismicity remains elevated, and many small, discrete earthquakes are occurring, suggesting that continued dome growth and the potential for major explosive events is a likely scenario for the next weeks to months. The potential for lahars (volcanic mudflows) and other flooding down the Drift River Valley remains, as does the potential for trace to minor ash fall on communities near Redoubt (Kenai Peninsula Borough, Anchorage, and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.)
As of 5 p.m. Sunday, the mountain remained on watch status, with aviation color code orange.
