Scholarship applications due today

The Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is seeking applications for the annual ARK Education Scholarship.

The $500 academic scholarship is awarded to a high school senior intending to follow a career in education.

Applications are available from the counseling departments of area high schools. Completed applications are due in the counseling offices this afternoon.

Eagles hold dinner

The Kenai Eagles will serve a traditional chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy this evening at 6:30 at the Kenai Eagles Lodge.

Folk dancers host contra dance

The Kenai River Folk Dancers will hold a family and community contra dance Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School. Instruction will be from 7 to 7:30.

The dance features live music, callers who teach steps and a variety of easy-to-follow dances.

No partner or experience is necessary. Bring a pair of clean, non-marking shoes for dancing.

Refreshments will be potluck. Admission is $5. Children and youths under 16 are free with an adult. For more information, call 283-9227.

Bridges board to meet

Bridges Community Resource Network Inc. will hold its regular board of directors meeting Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Bridges office at 145 Kasilof Avenue in Soldotna.

The meeting is open to all Bridges members and interested community members.

Council plans Monday events

Members of the Kenai City Council will be touring the Challenger Center Monday at 6 p.m. Following the tour, they will be participating in the Historic District board meeting at 7 p.m. in the Kenai City Council chambers.

Wrestling to be discussed at meetings

Parents and athletes are encouraged to attend the Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board meeting Monday at 7:30 p.m. and the borough assembly meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. to support the wrestling season.

Both meetings are at the Borough Building on Binkley Street in Soldotna.

Fair Association to meet

The Ninilchik Fair Association will hold its spring membership meeting and potluck Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik.

This year's poster will be unveiled at the meeting.

Elks gear up for celebrity game

The Kenai Elks Lodge No. 2425 has begun preparing for the third annual NFL Celebrity All-Star basketball game. This year the drive is to purchase a volunteer vehicle for the Kenai Peninsula Veterans.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 10 at Kenai Central High School.
