Foul play has been ruled out in the death of an assistant district attorney in Kenai who was found in his home early Saturday morning.

An autopsy report confirmed John "Jake" Ketscher, 31, died of an apparent single gunshot wound to the head, according to Kenai Police Lt. Kim Wannamaker.

Wannamaker said Kenai police got a call just past midnight Saturday from Ketscher's wife, who returned home to find the house locked.

She asked police to assist her in getting into the home and to do a welfare check on her husband.

Upon entering the house on Sycamore Street in the Wood-land Subdivision in Kenai, police found Ketscher dead.

Ketscher began working as a Kenai assistant district attorney in December, according to a state Department of Law monthly review article for that month.

According to the Alaska Judicial Council, Ketscher had practiced law for four years. He graduated from the University of Wyoming School of Law in 1999 and was employed with the Public Defender Agency in Kodiak before coming to Kenai.
