Assistant principal interview today

The Nikiski Middle-Senior High School assistant principal interview will be held at 5:30 p.m. today at the Borough Building in Soldotna. The public is invited to observe and give written comments afterward. For more information, call Linda Ralston at 776-3456, ext. 341.

Awards banquet set

The Skyview High School basketball team will host its awards and potluck banquet at 6:30 p.m. today in the commons. Players and their families are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 262-7974.

Community dance planned

The Kenai River Folk Dancers will host a smoke- and alcohol-free community contra dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School. Live music will be provided by the Contra BanD. Beginners should come early, since the easiest dances start at 7 p.m. Participants should bring clean, nonmarking shoes and potluck snacks to share. Partners are not required. Admission is $5. Children under 16 can get in for free if accompanied by an adult. For more information, call Theresa Holland at 260-4171.

Garage sale fund-raiser slated

The Sterling Senior Center will hold a garage sale fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 22 and 23 at the center. Space is still available. The cost is $25 for both days for space rent. A bake sale also is planned. For more information, call Glenda at 262-2943 or the center at 262-6008.

Taco feed fund-raiser planned

The Nikiski Freestyle Wrestling Club will host an all-you-can-eat taco buffet from 5 to 8 p.m. April 23 at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Outcry, silent and Chinese auctions are some of the planned activities. For more information, call 776-8808.

Parade scheduled

The Kenai River Reds (Some Pinks) and We Ain't Salmon Chapter of the Red Hat Society will host a Kenai Peninsula Red Hat Society Parade at 3 p.m. April 25. The parade route will begin at Leif Hanson Memorial Park and end at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center. Kenai Mayor Pat Porter will be the parade marshal.

T-200 seeking board members

The Tustumena 200 Dog Sled Association is seeking interested community members willing to serve on the 2005-06 board of directors. Board members and secretary positions are open. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 29 at the Tustumena Lodge.

Dinner, auction benefit slated

A benefit for Soldotna resident Russell McLaren will be held at 6 p.m. May 14 at the Soldotna Sports Center. Food, entertainment, a raffle and auction are some of the planned activities. Proceeds will help defray the cost of his cancer treatments.

A raffle for a nonguided caribou hunt is in progress and will be drawn at the dinner. The cost for the benefit is $15 per person at the door. For more information, call 262-1468.
