Youth needed to resurrect creek

The Youth Restoration Corps will be hiring youth between the ages of 16 to 19 to work on the Resurrection Creek in Hope from May 30 through June 23. People who are interested should call the Youth Restoration Corps on Monday or Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 262-1032 or ask a high school counselor for an application.

Black bear baiting permits available

Permits for black bear baiting on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge will be available beginning Monday. The permits are free and can be obtained at refuge headquarters on Ski Hill Road in Soldotna Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. All black bear hunters hunting over bait on the refuge must obtain a permit. For more information, call refuge headquarters at 262-7021.

Halibut tagging commences

The annual halibut derby tagging cruise is set for April 20. Participants should bring a lunch and fishing gear and meet at Central Charters on the Spit in Homer at 7:30 a.m. People interested in participating should call Linda Winters at the Homer Chamber of Commerce today at 235-7740.
